Madame Foster is a psychic anchor for Foster's Home and all the friend's inside to continue existing and Mac is her chosen successor.

Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends

Firstly, it's never really explained what imaginary friends are, physically speaking. However when Terrence imagines up Red we can see him materialize from thin air. The most reasonable explanation is that imaginary friends are like living psychic constructs, literal thought given form. Now, it's also not explained why a place like Foster's is so important other than it “gives them a home”, but what if it were more than that? In the show imaginary friends do not seem to age or die, however Wilt is lauded as a hero for bringing new friends into the home. What if the purpose isn't just to give them a home but to keep them alive? Foster's tag line in their commercial is “where good ideas are not forgotten”. This might seem like a clever tag line, and it is, but this may actually be the way imaginary friends stay alive: by being remembered. After all imaginary friends are ideas given form and an idea only lives as long as some one remembers it. Madame Foster, being some one who dearly loves imaginary friends, opened her Foster home in order to save as many imaginary friends from this sad fate as possible. The house itself is most likely an imaginary friend she created to house them (what with trap doors that go up and hallways taller than the actual building).

For years and years Madame Foster has been a psychic anchor for hundreds of friends, but she is getting old and will die some day so she needs an heir. Frankie is the most obvious candidate but, while she loves working at Fosters, it's not her true passion. Like any grandmother Madame Foster wants her granddaughter to be happy doing what she loves but she also can't forsake the hundreds of lives in her care. Most likely, Madame Foster uses Frankie as a substitute with many of the newer friends to ensure that everybody is remembered (She is old you know). Then along comes Mac, a boy so devoted to his friend he's willing to uphold an agreement that will surely fail as time goes on and he gets older (I mean, shit happens). When she first meets Mac and Blue she comments on how pure Mac's imagination is because of Blue's simple but elegant design. It's this purity and devotion that makes Madame Foster wonder if Mac might have the potential to take her place, thus securing the lives in Foster's and allowing her granddaughter the freedom to live her own life. As Mac returns to Foster's every day he meets more and more friends and remembers most of them, which is essentially his training. Of course Madame Foster can't be up front about this with a 10 year old, the responsibility of the situation is simply beyond his grasp and she will most likely make the offer to pass Foster's home onto him when he is older and already mostly trained.

Mac is the main protagonist on Foster's home for Imaginary friends

Personality and Character Traits-Edit

A bright, creative, and somewhat shy 8-year-old boy and the creator of Bloo who visits Fosters. He almost always seems to know what to do when there is a problem. Mac is generally good-hearted, intelligent and well-meaning and is often the voice of reason among his friends (especially Bloo) when they are about to make a decision. However, his good nature tends to make him somewhat naive. He is very attached to his imaginary friend Bloo and it is shown in episodes such as 'House of Bloos' and 'Duchess of Wails' that his biggest fear is never seeing him again because Bloo is what keeps him happy and cheerful and vice versa. Mac's greatest vice is sugar as he becomes extremely hyperactive to the point of a rabid mania if he eats any; once in this state, he will often become obsessed with seeking any other source (and will also sometimes run around naked or in his underwear). He also has a crush on Frankie. He is voiced by Sean Geromini
