Smartcard Reader For Mac

I'm having the same issue. My MacBook sees the reader but won't read the card. I found a note under the review (Posted July 9, 2015) for the reader I just bought, SCR3500A, that seems to indicate this may be an issue in Yosemite (http://www.apple.com/us_smb_338040/shop/reviews/H2312LL/A/scm-scr3500-smart-card -reader ). I'm using PKard S/W from Thursby. I plugged in a different reader, SCR3310, and it reads my card fine.

So I get to the landing screen and if my smart card is plugged in it displays the ok button and shortly there after terminates. If I do not have the card installed it prompts me for user name / password and the moment I insert my card it crashes.

Thursby seems to be blaming Apple OS X Yosemite. Hopefully Apple fixes this soon since this small fold up reader is ideal for my MacBook. A co-worker has the SCR3500 (not A) and it seems fine. Will try that one out later to see if it behaves differently

  2. APPLE SUPPORT START PAGE (ALL Mac related pages within MilitaryCAC). IPhone and iPad users can use their CAC and access CAC enabled websites using several different software apps and CAC readers (including accessing DTS on your iPad).

As the above table shows, the Saicoo V1 has been chosen as the best desk based CAC reader for Mac. This is our pick due to the fact that the Saicoo V1 has a good review score over a large number of reviews. The product is affordable, reliable, and has an unobstrusive, discrete style which will look good on almost any desk.

The Saicoo V2 has been chosen for the second place spot as it is slightly more expensive than the V1. However, if you definitely want a vertical standing CAC reader for desk usage, the V2 is the way to go. It has a good review score and the cost is only slightly higher than the V1.
